Overrated and overhyped. I expected a lot better animation since this was from MAPPA Studios. Most of characters are bland too with Power's being an exception. 12 episodes were enough and I'm not looking forward to a sequel.
this shit will be bussin bussin on god
My expectations were blown away, the story is over the top and the animation is phenomenal. Chainsaw Man (チェンソーマン) is one of the best from Shonen Jump and one of the best animes I have seen, week to week is killing me. Denji is a fun and charismatic character who can turn into a human chainsaw and stumbles into the world of Devil hunting. Can't get enough of this show and Studio Mappa have done a fantastic job with the production and animation.
No idea what I expected but this is so much better than I ever could have imagined.
Mediocre at best. Character development is practically non-existent.
The script itself is extremely poor, the animation is good though.
Wouldn't be surprised if it got cancelled after the first season.
There is no way to expect an anime that is this unabashedly violent and gory has everything, absolutely EVERYTHING which includes the animation, music, voice acting, characterizations, all supporting the quiet moments, the calm moments, the moments of the eye surrounded by the storm. The show revels in these moments in a world surrounded by brutality and death. Having read the manga, I wished they'd covered more in the first season. I now see that thinking that way was an utter mistake. The show takes its time, shows us the beauty in life, the things we should be enjoying such as the food, relationships and things we take for granted
Before they're all ripped apart in the high speed blades of a Chainsaw
Recommendation : :white_check_mark:
I get the impression that there's a real witch-hunt against CGI among animation fans. It's a bit of a boogeyman for them. But personally, I don't care. When I read a book, only the text counts. A manga, text + drawings. In a comic, you add color. An anime, it's a lot more: you've got the story, the drawings, the animations, the colors, the music, the voices. I can't just take into account the animation. Just look at the number of triple-A video games that are beautiful but crap.
There's another point that's more stranger than that: The hero literally loses a hundred liters of blood when he fights. This is a detail that seems strange to me in an anime.
On the other hand, I really liked the atmosphere. The drawing, the animation, the colors, the music. Despite the fact that there was a slight "downgrade" between the first episode and the other episodes. Especially in the background details/colors.
I thought the anime was not bad at all. The mysterious side of certain plots. Nakima's character (By the way, I watched the anime in French, I don't know if it's the same for the Jap version. I only watched one episode in Jap and I liked the VF voice of Denji/Makima/Power much better. His voice fits the character really well. It offers something unique that you don't find in the manga, a very calm, very soft voice coupled with his personality/view of things/manipulation) and the Denji/Power duo and their evolution is cool and well put together. Not many characters are developed, but I think it's just the right amount. More would be a waste of time.
A big plus for the ending, which changes with each episode, including the music.
loved all the movie references etc in the opening, and i really liked how each ep had a different ending, those were the true gems of this anime
the animation was great, can't wait to see how season 2 turns out, especially with the story;
i really loved that episode where Makima uses her powers, that scene was wonderful, and well executed
The art in this is incredible. I just can't get enough, and I love the concept so much. It's nice to see something like this - it's been a while since something this cool has been around imo.
I've never seen a more hyped anime, and for what? A mildly relatable MC and a shit ton of action? Not bad by any means, production is fantastic and I look forward to more episodes, I might just have set my expectations too high
His motivation is so relatable
I'm going to be honest, i didn't like it. because it was winning so many awards and getting nominated for even more, I had high expectations from Chainsaw Man. highly disappointed lol
Really unique! Really horny! This has some great action, and I’ve don’t mind when anime uses CGI. 8.5/10 :star:
8/10. it's good, but another anime about demons.
It's nice that the main character Denji has this power to transform into an OP guy. it's like a super Saiyan power. But at the same time it's like the script was written by a horny teenager.
I read through CSM earlier this year, and I have to say, I'm really impressed with this adaptation. You can tell that the MAPPA team really cares about the source material, so much so that the small expansions that they do have here and their with their own flair fit the characters and the world at large beautifully. This is the bar that I wish all manga adaptations could hit.
That being said, I don't think it's perfect, MAPPA's continued use of CGI is frankly just as gross as CGI from anime 10+ years ago when I first saw that technique. It's not used much but it does take me right out of the show. I think the other drawback comes from the limitation of the length of the season. While a truly impressive adaptation, it really is a double edged sword in that we don't get to see a lot of character or even plot progression. Maybe it feels different if you're just coming into it with no knowledge of the manga, but as someone who KNOWS where the series is going and how we're going to hit some important character moments in future seasons... it's hard to enjoy some of this earlier stuff that just serves to introduce the audience to everything.
Those thoughts aside, overall Chainsaw Man is a greatly unique premise with a lot of passion, violence, and intrigue that I think would make many Shonen fans happy, especially with how it turns many of those common tropes on their head and uses the subversion of expectations for some fun payoffs and light humor. The characters are likable (in their own unique ways), and MAPPA does an excellent job adapting from the source material. The soundtrack is also filled with bangers. If you've read the Manga it's an easy recommend, and if you're new to the series, try the first few episodes and maybe go in with tempered expectations.
Executed in a very cinematic manner unlike most animes. Any humor is very natural and the characters are organic and three-dimensional. Loved the way scenes were set up and high and low points. The plot however seemed like a prequel or a set-up for the main event so it left me feeling a bit unsatisfied. That being said, I was not bored at all or tempted to skip ahead in any of the episodes. It might flow better when paired with a strong second season though.
I feel like everyone knew this show was going to be amazing, so I don't have too much say about it. Everything is great about this, so if you are a fan of anime, this is a must-watch.
What a fckin masterpiece. The art style is normal anime but the direction was mind-blowing. Apart from the objectification of women and offering themselves up as play dolls it has got a decent story, as it doesn't revolve around Denji alone. Amazing soundtracks, don't miss the ending credits of any episode!! Hoping to get more of the series! 9/10
I loved this SO MUCH, it's so intriguing and a whole lot of fun. I can't wait to learn more and see how my favorite characters progress through their arcs.
The animation is so damn good, I hope the entire team behind it got expertly and deliciously s*cked off or anything else they want because they deserve that and more lmao.
This anime was a really pleasant surprise. The animation, writing, and unusual setting are the highlights. The 12 different endings with 12 different songs are just a cherry on top. Seems like the staff really loved working on it.
Didn’t really know what to expect for this, but really enjoyed it. Also the animation quality is really good in my opinion.
Looking forward to more episodes
Such a great anime makisa is bae
animation at its peak. this is the kind of animation I want. not throwing colors all over the screen is not considered as best animation for me
