Lists FTW!

Personal lists have existed for a while on trakt, but they were somewhat hidden, mostly for your own use, and hard to discover. That all changes now. Presenting the brand new lists page! You'll see featured personal lists created by the trakt community plus official lists from IMDB (and soon more sources). Check out the most popular and recently updated lists. The personal lists will automatically cycle to feature new and popular lists by all of you. Official lists will automatically update and gives you a great way to track your progress on these well known industry lists.

Viewing a list

When viewing a list (personal or official), you'll notice a ton of available sorting options and stats. I'll explain moving left to right then down the page. First, make sure you're signed in so you can see all this goodness. You'll be able to like a list (indicated here by Totally Ninja!) plus see basic stats like how many items, how many likes, and how many shouts. Moving to the right side, there are tons of controls to filter and sort the list just how you want. For example, show me only things I haven't watched that are in my collection, then sort it by newly released. Or, show me everything on the list I haven't collected so I can stock up during the next Blu-ray sale on Amazon. Even cooler, as you filter it does a super sweet animation to move things into place (looks amazing in retina on an iPad 3).

Next, easily track your watched and collected progress. It will calculate everything for you so you know exactly what you need to watch or collect. Use this in combination with the filtering and sorting options to quickly pinpoint the exact items. If you don't care about this section, you can always hide it from view.

Personal lists are presented in much the same way, just in the context of a user's profile. All the same options are available. You can of course use the quick icons on each poster to mark anything seen, add to your collection, or even add something to your own personal list. Also, if enabled you can shout on each list to suggest new items or give feedback on things.

Lists from movie and show summaries

Each movie, show, and episode summary shows a stat indicating how many lists it shows up on. For movies and shows, you can click on that number to see more detail about every list it's on. Filter that page by personal, official, and watchlists. This is another great way to discover great lists containing some of your favorite items.

Some of my favorite lists

There are thousands of great lists to check out, but here are a few of my favorites. Feel free to post your favorites in the comments too.

The future of lists

We hope you'll love these list updates as much as we do, but this feature will continue evolving over time. There are a ton of great ideas around lists that we definitely plan on exploring. More official lists are definitely planned including Oscar nominees, critic compiled (i.e. Roger Ebert's great movies), and lots more. We'd love to hear your suggestions for official lists we can add (if you know the api/rss we can use to get a list, even better!).

API updates

Nothing to report yet, but the API will be updated to support these new list features. Stay tuned on the API forum for more info about that.

Reddit top 250 would be nice. http://www.icheckmovies.com/lists/reddit+top+250/

I don't think icheckmovies has rss or an api yet though, hmm.
Is posting to twitter not working for anyone else?
I sure love the list features. I would love it even more if I could add a list to my personal lists.
I wan't to be find the lists I've liked again without having to remember where to find them. Preferably put them next to my lists under lists.
Add lists search to the main searchbar and favs list under Lists, please!
