I absolutely loved this movie! It was actually the first Bollywood film I've ever watched and it convinced me to watch a whole lot more.
My childhood favourite. A movie my father could watch at any point of the day, and so would I. Delivers a very crucial message (not that I'm talking about me haha) for the modern society (Indian society more importantly).
Apart from parts of the movie seemingly being plagiarised, this is one of those movies which have my total attention and admiration.

3 Idiots is too long and even though the story isn’t terrible, it’s just not that funny. Almost child like humor. Also don’t care for the musical numbers. Guess it’s just a cultural difference. I don’t hate it, but I can’t help but find this extremely mediocre.
Amazing movie with a beautiful message about education and rat race. Even the songs are awesome.
I've never been able to connect with Bollywood films, and unfortunately "3 Idiots" is no exception. Maybe a runtime of about 90 minutes would have resulted in a more enjoyable film for me. But 164 minutes is just too much. Every joke is unnecessarily drawn out so that the punch line has no effect. Furthermore, the character development only happens at a sluggish pace, even though you know exactly where the journey is going.
The biggest problem for me, however, was the main character, Rancho. He is nothing but a know-it-all, smug asshole. He bullies several people in the course of the film and never has to suffer any consequences for it. Not only that, but he also tends to lecture everyone around him without changing anything about himself. At the same time, he keeps lying to his friends and dragging them into all kinds of trouble. In the end, he even gets rewarded for it. Definitely a no-go for me.
There are, of course, a few positive things about the film, such as the solid score or the excellent cinematography. And the film is never boring—even if the plot drags, there is enough variety in it. However, for a comedy, there were simply too many jokes that didn't work for me to give it a higher rating.
I haven't watched many Indian movies because it's not exactly easy for me to be introduced to them. Besides, if the movie is not available in a streaming platform, finding decent subtitles in my language might be quite an undertaking, and we have to agree that watching a 170-min length movie requires some serious commitment. Still, I'm so glad I've found this precious gem among CineTrak's suggestions and decided to give it a go. Granted, not all of its arcs are great, but the important ones are superb masterpieces... even with some silly songs here and there.
Hollywood could REALLY learn a thing or two with overseas' 7th Art (not only Indian) because this solid 9.0 movie is amazing!

I usually don´t like B movies, but I saw this one by chance and have to say, it was amazing. Would recommend 9/10, because of some cliché scenes.
