I forgot how brilliant this movie is. Funny, cute, action-packed. Pixar have always known exactly how to deliver!
I don't think Pixar did the research for this movie they did for pretty much all of their other movies. Providing a lot of incorrect information about the insects and their worlds informed.
HOWEVER.. It doesn't matter at all because this is a great movie! From beginning to end it delivers, it main ants are fun and interesting. And if that isn't enough, they get joined in by a ragtag group of circus freaks. All ready to.. not rumble.. But that's what they end up doing anyway.
A Bug's Life isn't the most original movie out there, as basically every Western ever offers a story like this and probably hundreds of other movies too. The one thing that was original (when it was released), was its theme; Antz. .. Ants. Or just insects in general, I guess.
It offers a fun and exciting adventure, great characters, wild and (for children) intense action scenes and a fullfilling happy ending.
Even as an adult I can't grow tired of this movie, and every so often a rewatch is abound!
8 (Very Good)
I will die on the hill of this being one of my favorite Pixar films! It very much feels like a Toy Story film, and I can understand why that might be a turnoff to some. However, I love it. It is forever quotable. Scenes have forever popped up in my head randomly. And this is the reason Kevin Spacey is only allowed to be a bad guy in any role.
Rating: 4.5/5 - 90% - Highly Recommend
When I was younger I've watched that movie so many times! It's funny, cute and interesting. I strongly recommend that.
"A Bug's Life" is a rather mediocre second film from Pixar. None of the characters properly develop throughout the film, and the humour is not accessible for anyone other than children. In saying that, Kevin Spacy gave a solid performance, and each scene his character (Hopper) was in was enjoyable to watch. I also liked the "blooper reel" during the credits - it was very creative. It's a shame the rest of this film is mostly unremarkable.
Overall, not a particularly likeable movie, but not a bad one.
A thoroughly enjoyable production from Disney and Pixar.
'A Bug’s Life' cobbles together nice animation, fun characters and a memorable voice cast. The premise is entertaining, as the film flies through its 95 minute run time. The score is pretty solid, also.
Dave Foley is good in the role of Flik, while Kevin Spacey is actually great as Hopper; shame about the actor himself, obviously. There's a load of other noteworthy members of the voice cast, including Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Atta), Hayden Panettiere (Dot), Bonnie Hunt (Rosie) and John Ratzenberger (P.T.) as well as many others - one of the studios' best casts.
I actually prefer, somewhat controversially I guess, 'Antz' to this - only marginally though, as I truly like them both. I'd say watch the pair, if you can!
Haven't seen a bug zapper in yearssssss... ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZTTT!!!!!! AAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHH....THE HUUUMMAAANNNIIITTYYYYYY!!!!...yep goin to hell
Hopper: "You let one ant stand up to us, then they all might stand up. And if they ever figure that out, there goes our way of life!" In real life this is sooo true...

Ironically, I believe Pixar’s most underrated movie is their most overrated. Now, that does not mean I think it's an awful film in any way or form. The story is a mixed bag, but the colorful characters, impressive animation for the time, and Randy Newman’s Killer Soundtrack make this movie fun enough to experience. This movie has a dedicated fan base of people who love this movie just as much as the other well-known Pixar films. I think other lesser-known Pixar movies deserve more of a following than this. Still, A Bug’s Life is a film that I don’t mind putting on every now and then, even when there are some storytelling elements I can’t necessarily get behind. It’s not my favorite, but it is a decent enough film that offers a flawed but fun story with many pros and cons.
(Final Grade: B-)
Welp, this was boring. Visually it's quite dated, and while the ending has its entertaining bits it was mostly boring, not only because the story was quite predictable and basic but also because the characters aren't really interesting. In the end it's quite obviously an imagery for the oppression of a working class, and I think as a movie to show to children it's quite decent at it. However as a movie itself it wasn't good.
Also, the title doesn't fit at all in my opinion.
This could really use a TV series, I would love to see more Bugs Life content, but it probably won't happen
i first watched this when i was a kid and now, 20 years later, i understand how i became this communist hottie. it was an incredibly bright and sweet movie (also really funny). 100% recommended
A fairly run-of-the-mill story, peppered with enough unusual perspective and little bits of pure Pixar genius to somehow become something much more. Although the quality of animation hasn't aged particularly well, an ambitious scale and knack for breathtaking compositions provide ample compensation. Great voice acting from an all-star cast, a few good jokes for every age range, villains that manage to be threatening but not terrifying and a plot that's simple enough to draw anybody in, but deep enough to snag them for the duration. It doesn't hold up against Monsters, Inc. or The Incredibles, but it certainly makes for good company.
A movie for all ages !
Not one of Pixar's best but it's still a solid movie.
This is the best movie I have seen super funny a bit scary at the end but the kids will love it and the Adults Will love it to
It may be the simplest story brought to screen by Pixar, one that has been told in one form or the other numerous times over the years, but it is inspired enough and fresh enough to deliver an enjoyable experience.
Part of it may be nostalgia but I find A Bug's Life to be as strong as any other Pixar writing. Its got great humor and good characters while also bringing a solid message that we have come to expect from Pixar. This will always be one of my favorite animated movies.
could've been so much better and more interesting if they actually researched ant social behavior ... and anatomy
Seen it before but good to watch again over and over
