A Christmas Carol 1997

A Christmas Carol is a lighthearted, animated musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic. On Christmas Eve a heartless moneylender named Ebenezer Scrooge is taken on a magical journey by three ghosts to learn the true meaning of Christmas. Featuring the voice talents of Tim Curry, Whoopi Goldberg, Ed Asner, and Frank Welker, the film has a pretty decent cast. And the musical numbers aren’t bad either (though they come off as kind of forced). The story stays pretty faithful to the novel, but is given a kid friendly and comedic tone (with Scrooge having a pet bulldog sidekick that accompanies him) that downplays a lot of the danger and scariness of the ghostly visits. Yet while it’s a little overly kiddified, A Christmas Carol is still entertaining and a bit of fun.
