A Life Less Ordinary 1997

From director Danny Boyle comes the rather bizarre romantic comedy A Life Less Ordinary. The story follows the spoiled daughter of a rich businessman who is kidnapped by a recently fired janitor, and the two then team-up in order to extort a ransom from her father and begin to fall in love; but unknown to them events are being manipulated by two angels. Cameron Diaz gives a good performance and has a lot of charisma, but Ewan McGregor is terrible and the two have no chemistry. Additionally, the comedy is pretty weak, featuring stale jokes and cheap slapstick. A mess of a film that’s all over the place, A Life Less Ordinary just doesn’t work.

Love this funny movie. Diaz is great, too!

A great little comedy drama... McGregor has a talent for comedy that he doesn't seem to use to it's full potential.

The cast all round is excellent, the script is done rather well and the whole thing just seems to come together to make a charming and enjoyable little film. It's not one that I would watch over and over, but I watched it last night, last time I saw it must be around 15yrs ago... and I enjoyed it just as much as I did the first time... Much of the film I had forgotten, but no surprise there as I kinda have blank spots from 98-2003. :)

7/10 I almost gave it 8 just for the amusing credits... But I've seen better credits since this film came out and I'd have to go back and give them extra points too... and I'm not going to do that. :)

A funny if not flawed film, Mcgregor at his best
