A movie that mixes politics and philosophy looks like a French wet dream on paper, but Alice and the Mayor is actually little more than mental masturbation covering a cliché office drama.
That said, Anaïs Demoustier turns in a solid performance and French flavoring Fabrice Luchini turns his idiosyncrasies down enough to reach the core of his character. Sadly, these turns take back stage to bad blocking, sub-par supporting performances and a script that loses plot lines like a balding man in a gale force storm.
