Churchill 2017

This is one of the most annoying movies I have ever seen. If they make a stand-alone Jar Jar Binks movie, it would be less annoying. They dare to say at the end that he is one of the greatest Briton of all time! Really? Where did you show that? You just showed a bumbling idiot whining all the time and not doing anything. If you didn't know better you would think this movie is a propaganda made by the enemy at the time of war.

Cox gives a magnificent performance in the lead, but the film itself is a tad dull, with much exposition and speechifying. According to experts, historically inaccurate as well, which dampens the overall effect of the film.

What an amazing movie, Brian Cox as Churchill is truly amazing... I had to buy the Blu-ray of this movie as I loved it so much and can't get over how good the movie is...

I liked it.
I think it showed a man torn between the seemingly constant nightmares of his WWI experiences and the unnerving confidence of the military might of the day.

Pandering film trying to make churchill some type of bumbling hero without any mention of his crimes against the Indians, Kenyans or irish etc.

Wether this is historically accurate or not it still is a great movie. Brian Cox is amazing and interestingly his two most memorable roles for me are now those of Winston Churchill and Herman Goering (in Nuremberg https://trakt.tv/movies/nuremberg-2000). Go figure. But I also liked Miranda Richards, the two of them complementing each other very well.
As for historical accurancy - well with some of the most private matters who knows what kind of a man Churchill really was. In many ways Oliver Stones JFK could be described as fictional in huge parts. It is the same here - it´s interpretation. I for one can believe that parts of it might be true althought they might not. It is not a documentary. In any case it is a refreshing break from thin story blockbuster movies.

This unflattering portrait of Churchill evokes his discontent concerning Operation Overlord in the days leading up to D-Day.
Brian Cox's performance is spot on and easily one of the best of his career. Sadly, it is also wasted in this "Hollywood've liked it better this way" interpretation of history, which unfortunately includes a great deal of mediocre speeching.
