The Sam Rockwell we deserved and squandered, he’s so good in this and blends so well with the energy and pace of the film’s style. More importantly, when the rug gets pulled out in the second half and the humor disappears he brings the despair and the movie wallows in it to send you home humming “If I Had A Hammer” while a single tear drops from your eye
The opening 20 minutes are little confusing, perhaps intentionally so given the nature of the plot, but it is held together by a strong performance from Sam Rockwell. Drew Barrymore also plays a key role, but the relationship between these two characters never really convinces. However, once the dual nature of his character becomes a little clearer, the film is much more enjoyable, with some subtle ambiguity as to what elements of the story are true. Both George Clooney and Julia Roberts make strong cameos.
"You're 32 years old, and you've achieved nothing. Jesus Christ was dead and alive again by 33."
Are we supposed to like Sam Rockwell's character in this? This went way differently than I thought it was going to be.
A worthwhile watch. Clooney was excellent, as he always is.

A well made movie, with some solid acting, but ultimately a naff story line
Good enough, but wait until it is on TV.
