Complete garbage, Roger Corman’s Death Race 2050 is a trashy low-budget exploitation film. It’s basically a badly done remake of Death Race 2000 that lacks the clever satire and artistic vision of the original. The acting (if it can be called such) is terrible, and the sets and costumes look incredible cheap and gaudy. And the social commentary is as subtle as a sledge hammer to the face. Roger Corman’s Death Race 2050, which isn’t directed by Roger Corman, is a hackneyed piece of shit that’s not even fit for the SyFy channel.
At least they tried to make a homage to the old 1975 film Death Race 200. Sad thing is that some footage of the old film is even nicer to look at than this one.

Some of the characters are too much a caricature and their dialogue is very limiting. The gangster rap woman is the worst. It didn't have the Paul Bartel humour of the original.
The original had a fast pace and this didn't.
Extra points for trying to duplicate the style and tone of the original. It's fun in parts, but it just came across kind of hollow. Cheap, schlocky low budget of today doesn't have the same charm or heart as it did 40 years ago. The cheap CGI blood and fire is really jarring. Especially when I can achieve the same quality effects with a free phone app...

It's Death Race - but not as you know it. Rubbish effects, poor acting, awful plot. It feels like someone said "lets make a cult movie" - but it's definitely never going to be.
My advice would be to move along - nothing to see here.
