Hachi: A Dog's Tale 2009

I cried, every time, admitted.

OMG- this movie should have an Surgeon General's Warning - "WARNING: Can do damage to the FEELS"
I watched this film with my dogs, during a rainy afternoon. By the time it was over, I was balling like a toddler, holding both dogs in my chest, petting them and telling them that I promise NEVER to die on them. EVER.
(To be honest, I think they were pretty happy for the attention).

It makes you cry, to think that for the rest of that dog's life, he waited and waited for the return of the greatest person in his life, not understanding that it will never happen. I am afraid that my one dog (the other one passed away last year) will be like this - he is so attached to me, and doesnt really bond with anyone else.

Another great movie, based on a true story.
If you are a real dog friend, you have to watch this!

Gallons of tears that were shed, but it was worth it. Freakin' onions man.

Jesus Christ, I don't think I ever wept this much during a movie in my entire life. I was warned, but I still didn't expect that it would hit me in the feels like this. Sure, the plot is a bit thin, but as a dog owner this movie just high jump kicks you in the heart. There's literally no other movie that has ever done that and it deserves its high rating for it. God damn...

This movie made cry like a baby.

This is NOT a true story at all. They wrote something far from the real events. It wasn't even supposed to take place in America, Hachi was never sent away from Japan. I think the script is generally just poorly written and it could have been much more touching if it was done right. The real story does bring a tear to my eye. This movie? Not so much.

Great movie. Recommend the watch but be prepared to be hit right in the feels. Be careful of onion ninjas.

I don't understand why everyone liked it. I've watched a lot of movies and it's the first time I ever watched a movie that has no plot.

A story based on facts, but sometimes they write the best scripts, and this one has its moments. ps. The Japanese have their Hachiko, and we in Poland have Krakow's Dżok. :)

Dreadful. This is the kind of emotionally overblown, disingenuous kitsch that a lot of people love for some reason. Not that I’m against feel good entertainment, but this tries so hard with the sentimental music, schmaltzy dialogue and its painfully corny vibe. When you’re trying that hard, I find myself incapable to connect emotionally in any significant way, no matter how cute the dog is. Not to mention that this feels completely phoned in by every creative department. Bland cinematography, predictable writing, bad acting and dialogue; it has all the Hallmark staples without actually being one of their movies.

2/10

A classic for dog lover. As a film it doesn't bring too much, it is just OK, except for the music which I found great. But the story is very touching.

A very slow movie, without any discernible arc, but if you are a dog lover or have experienced the anguish of loss, bring a boat load of tissues. I give this film a 7 (heart breaking) out of 10. [Drama]

If you have ever had a dog or have one, or on the fence about getting one this is a must watch movie. A tearjerker, beautiful, lovely and tragic all at the same time. This is a true story about Hachi, a dog in Japan who would accompany his owner to the train station for work every morning and wait for his return in the evening. Even after his owner dies Hatchi would still faithfully wait for his owners return. He waited for nine years. Having had 5 dogs at once and losing 3 just this past year I found myself in tears the last part of the movie. It was beautiful and yet so painful to see this dogs undying love for his master prevail above all else. In this cruel world we live in this movie highlights the beauty of this faithful companion as it mirrors the love we have and the love our faithful companions have for us...... such a great movie.....

Don't have a dog yet but me and my bf have intentions of getting a shiba inu for a longggggg time. Watching this makes me wanna have one really bad... It's so adorable and loyal... It's so sad having to watch Hachi waiting for Parker at the same spot while he slowly ages away with time and it's even more sad to know it's a true story. T-T
