I am not the kind of critic who will criticize a tragic true story directed and co-written by a family member directly affected by the calamity.
What I will say is that this film is well made about the oldest problem in the world: the hardship of being a farmer. But if you think being a farmer is hard, try watching this film.
Do we really need more proof that God hates farmers? Seriously, the lead character of In the Name of the Earth should've been called Job instead of Pierre because we're forced to watch him subjected to catastrophe after catastrophe without one single ray of sunshine throughout the movie's 2 hour running time.

The first film to make me cry in a long while. So realistically portrayed. No pretty housewife! The industrialisation of farming created so much debt.
