Well it is a movie with a dog, that is enough for me. Great story, heartwarming and very powerful. Of course i cried at the end.
Such a heartwarming and sensitive movie. One of my faves since a longtime.
I’m a veteran myself and the beginning of this movie I was skeptical. As I continued to watch this movie I was left in awe. Being paired with a K9 is not easy and the bond is definitely unique. It tugged my heart and it delivered.
Really good watch emotional film about the pride of bomb sniffing dogs and their handlers in the Marines as it follows a decorated veteran's true story of how she fought to adopt her Marine dog after going through hell together. Its a short and sweet kind of film but it does a good job of plot development enough to get the audience to connect with the characters and story. Its got some good edge of your seat scenes but will mostly glue you to your seat for the heartwarming bond.
I love this movie. I have been watching it at least once every year, since it came out. God bless all who serve or have served!
Based on a true life story, Megan Leavey is a touching coming of age film about love and duty. Looking for direction Megan Leavey joins the US Marines and works to become part of the K-9 unit that detects bombs, and is eventually deployed to Iraq. Kate Mara gives and excellent performance that carries the film; really conveying the bonding experience that she and the dog go through and how torn up she is when they’re separated after her discharge. And the dog does a good job too, coming off very nature and emotive. Also, the message of the film, about how affecting the relationship between man and animal can be, is quite moving. Megan Leavey is an extraordinary character drama that’s heartwarming and inspirational.
As sentimental as the film is, especially toward the end, you have to realise how much these dogs mean to the marines who work with them. While we should salute our two-legged heroes, we should always be reminded of the valiant efforts of those war heroes who run on four legs. An inspirational film, and while I'm not particularly a dog lover, this still left me with a tear in my eye.

I wanted to see this movie when it was in the theatres but i just never got a chance. Something about the story just beckoned me. I was so glad to see that Netflix picked it up and I really enjoyed watching it, finally. Good acting, good storytelling, things to learn about love and perseverance, I give this movie a 7 (good) out of 10. [Drama based on a true story]
If you ever had or loved a dog this film will melt your heart!

Being a former vet, I was worried I would not like this movie due to lack of accuracy. You could tell they were acting as Marines, and at least for the boot camp extras, especially at graduation you could tell the marching was a bit sloppy but it didn't become such a problem I couldn't watch the movie (Like Atlantic Rim). I stuck through from boot camp which was portrayed pretty well till the end. It was a good movie and the acting by the main and supporting characters were done well enough to portray the story and really started rooting for Rex.
