My Best Friend Is a Vampire 1987

The same year that gave us vampire classic The Lost Boys also gave this poor effort. Its as predictable as they come, and lacks bite in all major areas. Fangs but no fangs!

For some reason horror comedies were all the rage in the 1980s. In particular two teen vampire comedies: MBFIAV, and Once Bitten, which was release two years earlier.
I'd say this one is better, overall, than Once Bitten, however the two are quite similar.
Our lead, Jeremy, is bitten by a female vampire. Soon after this, he has to contend with vampire life, being hunted by two vampire hunters, suspicious parents, and a new girlfriend.
So, yeah, the movie is pretty much Once Bitten, only with two bumbling Van Helsings.
A standout performance for me was Amelia Kinkade as a punk, dancing in a bar. This was before Night of the Demons, where she would play a goth girl, who dances in a spooky house.
I'd recommend this to anyone who likes '80s comedies.

I can't be the only one who thinks that Liam Payne looks like a young Robert Sean Leonard. I can't unsee it now :sob:

Subtly queer with some great lines. It was kind of shitty, but like, in the best way ever (and probably very good for the time being). Would definitely rewatch and take a shot everytime something homoerotics happens. I'd be buzzed at the end, that's for sure.

All and all, a cute and surprisingly wholesome film!
