I like Pete Holmes a lot. I've been following his stuff for roughly a decade, and he seems like a genuinely good guy. His HBO show, Crashing, is also excellent (so go check it out). That being said, I think his strength lies in the televised format - rather than as a standup. That's not to say he's bad. I laughed a few times throughout this comedy special. But there were definitely moments where I just watched on. That happens with all standups I find, but there were moments I just wanted him to move along - which is never a great sign for a joke.
That aside, I still liked this special and I'm glad Pete Holmes is getting another opportunity.
