[Watch AUT '23] The approach of the film is closer to a pacifist look than to a reflection of war conflicts, in a story that manages to uproot humanity in the midst of the dehumanization of war, through the relationship between an introverted Austrian soldier and an orphaned little fox. But far from being look too complacent, it also reflects the background of war unreason that contrasts with Franz's much kinder look. And it captures on its 4:3 screen that gives a nostalgic tone, the beauty of an environment buried by the roar of bombs.
