It's very different from the book. The indian woman protagonist should have a bad-looking-body. Instead in this movie the woman is too beautiful. The love of the man should have been something like 'her body is not too beautiful but there's something i like about her'. It's not her body that mainly attracts him. Thing that here make us think the contrary.
I haven't read the book, but I think the movie was lovely. It was an unusual love story with a very delicate topic for inmigrants: their roots. And why would anyone avoid watching Aishwarya Rai in all of her splendor? She's amazing.
