This is a heartbreaking movie laced with humour. Great part for Johnny Depp. Sad circumstances played by a master without it being in your face. Recommended.
A movie that ultimately doesn't go where it should have gone... mainly cause other movies have done it before.
Movies like this, despite all their deep notions on life and death and living, usually fail for me cause the protagonist is always someone who has money. It is easy to say "live your life as you want" if you have the means to do so and do not have a worry in the world besides your impending doom.
All in all it's a fun movie that allows you to shed some tears with an always charismatic and mumbling Depp giving his almost-best. The ending fails for me but that's not a big deal after all cause like death the ending is merely a stop to the road travelled.
So glad i've taking the time to watch this movie. Great acting by Johnny Depp!
great movie. bursted into tears two tomes during the film, and realised that whatever happens to you in life, just smile and try to make the best of it. to be honest sometimes im terrified of life and cry a Lotus. i dunno usually i write funny comments but this is serious. thanks to the crew director, producers, the cast and the whole team who worked on this movie. it was funny beautiful and sad at the same time.
One of the best movies I watched in my life. Good to see Johnny Depp acting like the talented actor he is.
Depp and Huston play their parts wonderfully, but as the script is a little weak, this doesn't pass the grade. B- then.
Incredible, beautiful, touching and sometimes funny. Being ironically honest in a doors of death is a great art. Very well played.
Something's missing. Great acting by Johnny Depp but the story felt almost unreal. That kind of reaction by the professor and even more the way people around him react to his revelation (except Peter) is not what we'd expect and that could even have been ok if only we had
witnessed a thorough exploration of the characters I can't see here.
Very sad movie, but had nice funny bits too. Johnny Depp as always is brilliant throughout. A difficult subject that was dealt with, in a nice way. Solid 7.5/10
Entertaining amusing drama with a great Johnny Depp, whose role like a fist on the eye.
I liked the concept but the characters are paper thin and the movie rushes to a somewhat anticlimactic ending.
What a delightful surprise. In the same vein as Kiss Kiss Bang Bang or Real Genius, the honesty in the humor is very refreshing and highly quotable. This little, off the radar, gem is one I might even consider purchasing simply because it’s worth the rewatch. It’s message of “live every moment” is something everyone should be reminded of now and then.
In the end, what really matters?
A movie about a man that's diagnosed with cancer with no way out except death, comes with it a string of events woven as tales/chapters that discuss and detail how the ill-protag deals with the many "empty holes" that are left inside of him when he begins to look back at the kind of a life he's made; and the final choice he takes that is of neither two choices he was given with at hand.
While not superb in itself, the movie is rather well made being short and proper to how much there is in the story.
