I loved this show but I'm turned off by the season finale and now this new Season. With Kate being so close to death I had really hoped it would amount to more than 15 minutes of "Oh look she got better and is back to fighting crime in high heels" Additionally the whole love interest is really growing tiresome. We've seen Castle or Kate just about die (and in doing so expresses or hint at their love for one another) in dozens of episodes now. It's becoming evident the writers are afraid to progress this plot line and it won't see progress until they find out they aren't being renewed.

Annoyance #3) More clichés... The reporter admits to the killing to protect someone he cares for.

Annoyance #2) The captain told the mayor that Beckett had arrested the vigilante. No one in her position is that stupid to say definitively that the correct suspect had been arrested WHILE that same suspect is being interviewed for the first time. Stupid.

Really? Was the tone of this episode supposed to be emulating the silly nature of super hero comics? Beckett and Castle are taken by surprise by a man in a red costume standing 4 feet away from them. A sword is used to pick a button from Beckett's hand without cutting her. Costume guy grabs the button in the air and jumps on a motorcycle parked less than 12 feet away... another prop the detective did not notice.

What the fuck!? Contrived drama to the gills. Becket is having trouble using her service weapon because she had been shot 3 months ago. How many times has this been used in other stories? Don't answer. No one should have to go count how many times this cliché has appeared. That would be torture.
