Wow! Gossip Girl, how you made me cringe watching the last few seasons and episodes, but you somehow made me love this final episode. It truly had everything a fan could want and need in a finale without being overly cliche.
I especially enjoyed the snippets of previous cast members returning, and the two weddings in one episode with the simplicity of each being beautiful, proving that our Manhattan's Elite have finally come to understand and appreciate the little things in life without the all that Upper East Side rubbish.
This finale also delivers fans what many have joked about 'hoping Kirsten Bell pops up and says surprise I'm GG', and to those who came from Orange County to NY, will also laugh at the cameo of none other than Rachel Bilson our 'Summer!'
However I don't believe the producers, Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, ever entailed from the beginning exactly who would be Gossip Girl particular during seasons 1-4. After all the show was based upon the novel series by Cecily von Ziegesar, in which the GG remains as an eponymous blogger. The writers do however manage to pull together nicely the 'expose' of GG's identity as Dan Humphrey very well. Especially now when you review the earlier episodes of this final season we hear GG voice over that this season will be 'my last' and then we skip over to scene of Dan stating this will be an 'expose', we now know his 'expose'.
All in all the episodes ends with what Schwartz and many other shows love to do, whilst can be corny at times, is also pleasant closure for fans and that is getting to see '5 years later...'
Slightly impressed GG, thanks for 6 seasons. xoxo
