The Simpsons
Originally created by cartoonist Matt Groening, "Our Favorite Family," has graced the small screen in one form or another for over 20 years. The Simpson family first appeared on television as the subjects of interstitial "shorts" on The Tracey Ullman Show in April of 1987. The Simpsons remained a staple on The Tracey Ullman Show for three seasons until they premiered in their own half-hour series, on December 17, 1989. With the help of Jim Brooks and Sam Simon, Matt Groening's cartoon family turned into an instant success. Set in Springfield, the average American town, the show focuses on the antics and everyday adventures of the Simpson family; Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie, as well as a virtual cast of thousands. Since the beginning, the series has been a pop culture icon, attracting hundreds of celebrities to guest star. The show has also made name for itself in its fearless satirical take on politics, media and American life in general. Currently in its 23st season, The Simpsons has piled up close to 500 episodes, 27 Emmy Awards, a handful of music albums, countless endorsements and merchandise, and even made the jump to the silver screen in the summer of 2007 with The Simpsons Movie. And according to Matt Groening, "There is no end in sight."

the first seasons are quite bad in terms of quality of storytelling and graphics, the latest ones mostly too obvious. love the simpsons of a few years ago. think about drug-inducing frogs, psycho-chili and most of all: the canyonero :D hhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4QgWRycd7I

In comparison with the earlier years The Simpsons became model citizens. In the lastest seasons i miss that spark like when Homer finds his lost brother and designs a ridiculous that ends his brothers career. Or where homer quits his job to take a dream-job at a bowling alley but has to take back his old job when Maggie is born.

Yeah... The Simpsons is not satire anymore. If you want that, watch South Park or American Dad. (I am.)

Actually...the show did of course change over the time of the years, but it never lost any of its speciality. The 20th season for example is really good, you just have to get into it and accept that they have changed. As they should have.

ahhh, real Simspons fans. seasons 2-9 were the best, 9-13 were good, still watchable, but you could see it going down-hill in some episodes, and everything after season 13 is a totally different TV show.

However, I thought the movie wasn't too bad.
