12 Monkeys: Season 2

2x09 Hyena

This series keeps getting better in my opinion. I was worried about a sophomore slump, but I can't say that's happened. Sure there's been some ify bits in season 2, but overall the story has remained very engaging. This episode was well crafted, managing to give us significant character development while moving the central story along enough to feel satisfied. That's not always the case in many series.

I didn't like the chronology of this episode, specifically at the very end. Hannah being told that her father built the machine only for the literal next scene to be the reveal that the Tall Man has plans to use The Father? Ugh. Would probably work better for "drama" if the former scene were more towards the beginning so the latter has more of a last effect.

Cassie and Ramse doing their own thing and become Plot B just doesn't feel right, too –– it's almost like after both get a pretty big chunk of angsty development ( Cassie w/ the possession, Ramse w/ losing his son ) that they need to be put back for the focus to be back on Cole and Jennifer. I'm sure it'll weave in with the main storyline in the next few eps, but I'd much rather them all working as a "core four", in-sync dynamic.
