It was a pretty dire situation regardless, but Jack getting captured like that was real stupid. He wouldn't just walk to the door without being ready in some fashion. Come on. He's not an idiot.

I know the plot aimed for dramatic effect above all, so that's why events happened the way they did. But if Tom truly was against the idea from the start, then he was a dumbass. He could've gone to Wayne, and then they could've conspired together (along with Secret Service) to catch the assassination attempt in the act.
A pretty compelling call back to the decision that ruined Jack's like. Jack decides to invade a Consulate to interrogate someone he's knows are the key to find the person behind the terrorist threat.
Except here, things go very wrong very fast. At least this time there's no girlfriend's ex-husband to worry about.
That was so stupid. That Russian was trying to be quiet and secretive, move into a room, but then keeps his back to the door so that he has no idea that anyone is there?
