For being tall as fuck, Jack's dad certainly did have two relatively short sons...
I'm also incredibly disappointed they didn't get Donald Sutherland to play the dad. That would've been fucking amazing.

Despite the dumb way they involved Jack's brother and father in the plot, Jack's dynamic and backstory with his family is really compelling.
