Gina should be nominated for an Emmy.
I can’t believe I made it through this episode!!! All I kept thinking about was how strong this woman is... her strength was out of this world. This whole episode broke my heart! Certain episodes stay with you beyond the season and this is definitely one of them. I knew when Gina joined the cast, the show would be elevated!!! I’m going to be sad all day.
Damn, there are some fantastic actors on this show. Gina Torres, Derek Webster and Greg Grunberg gave my tear ducts a work out.
I was crying the whole episode. The way Tommy handled the situation was... well I was questioning her decision of not telling the twins immediately so that they can say goodbye to their father. But as the episode unfolded I felt what she did was the right thing and she showed a tremendous amount of strength. The fact that she didn't inform anyone was like she wasn't looking for sympathy or empathy or anything but just wanted to wrap her own head around the fact that her life partner, her husband was not in this world with her and their twins. It was sad to watch her go through this alone. No one should go through this alone, but we all do when time comes yet there are people to support you and share the moment.
I remember when my cousin brother passed away and we didn't know how to explain to his 6-year-old son that his father passed away or even explain what death was. Elders told him that he went to a different country to work. Sometimes we would hint towards him not coming back but in a few more days he understood that his father was no more with him or anyone and he died. Today when someone asks him where his father is he would just say that he died. And it breaks our hearts.
What is the right way to tell the kids that their parent or parents have passed away or anyone related to them? How to explain them what death is and it can come for anyone?
It is a tough conversation, but a very important one.
This episode was really heavy. I just couldn't stop tears rolling down my cheeks. It was sad. But a well put episode.
I have never been this hurt over fictional characters in my life. Snotty, eyes red, me screaming for her to call somebody for help. I have never seen black female strength depicted so accurately. So damn perfect that it gave me flashbacks.
God damn that was one hell of a sad yet exceptional episode. Tissue please.
This episode is one of the saddest episodes I’ve seen of any show, also a really good episode. Great performances all round.

Only the OG 9-1-1 is supposed to make me cry like this. Tommy deserves an award for this performance. How she tried to hold herself together in denial of acceptance had me wanting to break down for her. So emotional. Such a great episode. My heart is seriously hurting right now.
