J: "Ava, can someone from the city come and check on the back-hallway lights?"
A: "Girl, no. Do I look like the Kool-Aid Man? I don't have enough juice to manipulate the inner workings of city hall."

I feel like they totally changed Janine’s personality from the pilot to this episode :( like that new storyline with her boyfriend??? So unnecessary and it’s so out of character of her to have a boyfriend like that, like if Janine doesn’t take Ava’s bs for the kids, why would she tolerate a bf like that??????????

I know it’s only two episodes in but I love Gregory. He’s so great!

Standard post-pilot tweaks to bed in the character types and dynamics. They clearly had to give Janine a bf so it's not an obvious romance path for her and the sub teacher. Basically following the same formula we've seen work in all the other US TV shows. He'll pine. She'll be oblivious. Then she'll like him and he'll be dating someone. And so on. And so on.
I like the wisened teacher the best so far.
