Alejandra Martínez is a beautiful and intelligent woman who has dedicated her life to Medicine to overcome her tormented and humble origin and show herself and those around her that she can contribute to society without having children. Alejandra believes that children are a burden and a source of obstacles, as happened to her mother, Caridad Martínez, who had five children of different men believing that a man could save her from loneliness, but they all abandoned her to her fate. After a year of medical internships and social work in rural areas of her country, Alejandra returns to her family's working-class neighborhood in the western part of Caracas. He gets a job at the local hospital, where he will face the director, the famous surgeon Alejandro Antúnez, who reveals that he is his illegitimate daughter.
