I love the fact that they're making this like it's a comic-book that came to life. From the get go you're confronted with that hightened reality (esp. that Spartacus-like buckets of blood) and over the top action, and the generally comical interactions. Because toning it down or grounding it in reality would do it more harm than good.

I think most people would know from just this episode how much they're gonna love/like/hate the show, it encompasses everything that is American Gods : Dreamy, comical, weird, dark, and super weird. You'll go "WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT?" more times than you can count in this story.

I just can't fucking wait for people's reaction on the Salim and the Jinn story in ep. 3

I was very hyped for this show, and usually when I'm hyped, I get disappointed. But not this time!
The premise was amazing to begin with, the books is fantastic, one of my favorites from Gaiman, and the creators attached to the show had my hopes very high up. And the first episode managed to live up to it! The atmosphere is great (and I DID love the buckets of fake blood), the casting is spot-on, the story is dark and funny, and mostly weird (but that's why we love Gaiman, don't we all?), and I really can't say a bad word about it. 9 points "only" because I want to save the 10 for the best episode.

What a weird and beautifully shot episode. It wouldn't be a Bryan Fuller show without buckets of blood. I'm intrigued to see what comes next.

LOVED IT. Ian and Ricky are great together, I think we'll have a lot of fun with these two.

need to read the book first before I start watching this

What a sensation to watch something I've read the book for over 15 years ago. I meant to re-read it before watching, but kept putting it off for silly reasons. Now I guess I will be watching before re-reading, and it's like memories coming to life again, of a reality not entirely mine, yet familiar.

Precious.

That was weird. But I love the blood scene on this episode.

It's been a while since I watched this episode and the show in its current entirety, I don't even remember what my thoughts were on each episode. I know for a fact that I didn't consider Shadow's prison mate to be anyone important. Was his name Low Key Lyesmith even mentioned in the show thus far? It was probably mentioned later on the season as I barely recall anything in the later part of it. I hope Jonathan Tucker returns in the second season.

This was... not what I expected.
Shadows conversations are.. As if he's dreaming. He just accepts EVERYTHING without questioning it. Feels unreasonable and not like the character in the book - at all.

This Shadow i kind of.. dislike.

What I was expecting of Brian Fuller... A LOT OF WEIRD SHIT.

Its a fair start for a TV show. It made me keep going. And there a whole bunch of talking about this and the novel it's based on... let's see where it goes...

I love Ricky! hawt damn!!! Ricky Whittle and Ian McShane are the ones who intrigue me the most! Between Shadow and Mr. Wednesday! Their chemistry is top notch! Brilliant writing, im very interested in Technical Boy, I can already tell that he'll be a good villain for now! Cannot wait to see where this goes...
