Usually I don't like horror shows, but this one remember me the atmosphere of The Blair Witch Project, maybe because there are good old video tapes involved.
This first episode really catches the attention, with great interpretation of both protagonists and the great photography. The premises are really excellent.
I think this is going to continue... I just finished this episode... and it's one of the best modern horror takes I have seen in this era... that and the remake of It from 2019. Except this is very different in the way it lays out the premise. Unlike other films where the reason for the horror aspect appears right from the beginning, this one keeps you anticipating the next move all throughout.
You never would have guessed that an archivist taking a job doing what he's good at would result in a sort of lockdown, like this facility is... I never knew anything was off until Virgil handed him that wristband.
Twist on the "found footage" genre in that the "found" footage was damaged in an apartment fire, and is now being restored by someone whose family was killed in a house fire, and now turn up on the film he's been hired to restore. I smell an onion metaphor coming on.
Good start, interesting premise, let's see where this goes.
Pretty boring but will stick with it
the scenes toward the end are INTENSE + pls, all the soundtracks used were so creepy it kind of stayed in my ears :sob:
so far, this is promising. can't wait to watch the next eps <3
Great start so far, lets see where its going.
Seems kind of bland. "Meh" pretty much sums it up.
I see a theme here. Dan has had mental issues in the past and the grad student that films absolutely everything apparently has mental issues as well. Who films an AC/radiator for 30 seconds and then talks to it? WTF? It makes noise. It's a side effect of cooling/heating... Then we have composer-chick that is also more than a little off... who can't remember if they have lived someplace for 6 years? It isn't like you are trying to remember something from when you were 2...
And what is up with her description of oral history? That has got to be the most convoluted way of saying she wants to hear stories from the tenants... "a collection of historical information about a group of people or a place using first-person interviews"... GMAFB. Can she please meet her untimely end soon? Also, Dan, digitize the damn tape and stop running it back and forth. Watch the digitized copy instead! What type of archivist are you?
So while the characters are annoying, I am a huge fan of the style and pacing. Slow and methodical. Each scene is given its time to play out. None of the modern superfast pacing B.S.. that is 95% action and 5% story. This show reminds me of the storytelling style used in the 70s. It nails the storytelling and cinematography aspects.
I am loving Ariana Neal, though. Jess is a great character. She actually has good dialogue, too.
I can completely understand how this was canceled. 1 hour seemed like this show was running for 5 years

Why did I decide to watch this at 2 am? How am I going to get to sleep now? I'm going to watch Care Bears.
P.S. Curiosity running in my veins. :fearful::face_with_monocle:
