Wow! I never would have expected Boruto to reach this level of quality. Admittedly this was more of a Naruto episode and only really works that well if you have watched that but even for those standards it was one of the best episodes.
First of all this had amazing choreography but what made this even better was that the fights weren't simply spamming powerful explosions but were well thought through with tactics and amazing combinations behind it. The power level of the attacks was negligible for that. Every attack of the Shinobi made sense and wasn't simply to show the viewer the strength of that participant. Even the Kaijū battle was so much better than any in Naruto because it felt like it had impact and substance.
I like Sasuke as a mentor and teacher. I also just love the friendship dynamic between Sasuke and Naruto. of course in the way they fight but also outside of fights. It really feels authentic and like they have a long history. Also all those references back to the very beginning of their relationship as it started in Naruto are just so believable and strengthen this idea if this being a well earned friendship.
The episode also had some very heartening funny moments like Narutos and Borutos identical reaction to the Kieru Rasengan. Generally I personally liked the visual parallels between Naruto and Boruto, as well as the ones in terms of character.
This was simply a really great episode establishing so many things, like the growing closeness between father and son but also Boruto as having special powers and being marked in some kind of way.
The only thing really I didn't like was the appearance and behaviour of Katasuke because that was an incredibly forced way to push the plot in a direction and create some tension.
I don't know whether it wouldn't work because it might need a little bit of setup but I believe this could have been the perfect first episode of the entire show. All the important things that happened prior could even have been implanted by flashbacks.
