This truly was the perfect goodbye indeed. Great mix of humor and emotion. Loved all the callbacks and the returning characters. I will miss this bunch of wackos and their shenanigans.
I smiled when Gina popped up. Then she reminded us how annoying she is. Who actually missed her?
Lovely, funny, manic, sweet series finale. I've been watching this weekly since it premiered, and using the annual, always surefire heist episode to have the characters reach for, then realize they can't have their perfect goodbyes, is a perfect way for the show to go out on.
So chock full of great bits that one is in risk of just rattling of their favorites once started (Those guest stars! Balloon arch, tattoo reveal, meta opening credit reference, the coma!), so I will just say that after one last round of madcap visual/verbal/physical ensemble heist comedy, the way the show winds down to these characters hanging out (relatively) quietly with each other is one real sublime final touch, and the last scene between Holt and Jake may be Andy Samberg's finest acting moment. Goodbye, Nine-Nine, and thanks for being one of the most reliable mood-lifters all these years.
Follow-up commentary:
- "Nikolaj" pronunciation!! YES
- That Holt-Jake conversation, "chills, literal chills" - and some tears
- "Title of your s*x tape"!
- Man, I really hoped in a Bruce Willis arrival
Will miss them.
Nine-Nine!
Man say what you want to say about Season 8 but I actually loved it given the circumstances. And to say, the show was getting cancelled 4 years ago. This Finale was absolutely a fan service and I loved every minute of it! Going to miss the show a lot.
NINE NINE
Perfect. Wow this finale was so much better than I expected. It reminded me of the early seasons. So many great call backs and the moment between Jake and Holt at the end had me tearing up. The rest of the season was a little disappointing and I wish it had been more like this, but they really stuck the landing. I’ll miss this show. NINE NINE
Nine-Nine! Nine-Nine! Nine-Nine!
The perfect ending doesn't exi- okay, this was really good. I didn't really was into the show in the first few seasons and only caught up later, but man, I'm gonna miss it.
Awww this was perfect! The only thing missing was the fireworks! Outside of the precinct would have been amazing. And Hitchcock winning the heist was actually genius and I support it!
All the guests appearances and callbacks were super cool.
And honestly Jake quitting his job to be with his kid is the perfect closure for him, obviously he had a lot of childhood trauma and daddy issues and him sacrificing all to prioritize his kid is amazing. And in my mind he works as a part time consultant in Rosa’s firm.
Also I also wanted Rosa to go with Pimento to live crazy adventures but it doesn’t have to be as a romantic couple, they can go just as friends, but they truly are a match cause both are as deranged, so in my mind they are still friends and take crazy trips together.
And that last scene with holt and peralta was simple but so emotional.
Overall the show had a difficult job to do this last season, they had to acknowledge the reality but they also couldn’t focus all of the show around it, so it was almost an impossible job; I personally think they did good in having difficult conversations but my issue is after they had those they kinda moved on like nothing happened, especially Jake and Charles, so I think it would’ve been better if the show completely focused on the characters in different settings, like they did in the lake house episode or in the boyle farm episode, cause them being in the precinct, dealing with that Trmp guy, Jake’s final case that ended up in a suspension (rightfully so) was sour to say the least. So maybe a dinner episode at Jake and Amy’s, an episode centered around Rosa, I would’ve made it more around the characters and their lives outside that building, instead of a couple of cases/situations they had.
So the characters are gonna be missed! But this show needed to end.
Thanks for everything!
NINE-NINE!
THAT JAKE/HOLT SCENE :sob::sob: What a great ending! Especially Rosa's gaaah (and so fucking glad Rosa didn't actually end up with Pimento, that would have been )
Oh man, it’s just the perfect goodbye. Endless callbacks and returning characters, truly the ultimate fan service. The Holt/Jake moment at the end gets me every time. I love this show.
NINE NINE!
Excellent series finale! Funny and emotional! Just perfectly in line with the whole show. I'm really glad they also added the 'one year later' scene showing that these people are always going to be in each others lives, no matter what.
I keep coming back to this show because it is and will probably always be one of my favorites in the comedy genre.
The perfect goodbye. Bye nine nine!!! Love you
I can't tell if these last two final episodes had more twists or turns.
Perfect goodbye!
NINE-NINE!
sad that this had to end but nine nine has been the best comedy show to date. Gonna miss Terry
Imagine if they actually ended the season with jake going into a coma and waking up 7 years later, this ending was really nice, but it would have been funny if we got a really unsatisfying ending like that.
NINE-NINE!!
What a fantastic show.
The scene in the elevator; Didnt Rosa already see Holt's tattoo earlier this season? She also looked as shocked as the others :D
I miss them all already.
NINE NINE! NINE NINE! THANK YOU!
Thank you for 8 great seasons!
Goodbye Nine-Nine! You will be missed.
The callback to the Backstreet Boys cold open was hilarious. That cold open was the first clip I'd ever seen of the show. The reference to the opening title sequence was funny as well.
This finale was fine, but the season overall was quite mediocre. They should've canceled the show instead. Jake and Amy's baby being born is a decent ending to the show.
Rosa calling Amy "breeder" is the highlight of my year
i'm crying from episode 9. not sure this is the ending I wanted with everyone leaving and the squad breaking up... but goodbye is inevitable.
I'm sad but at least Joanna Newsom and Dan Goor's cameos cheer me up a bit
"it was perfect"
I'll miss you forever andre.
its been a wild ride.. i loved it.. what a great ending.. NINE NINE!!
im not crying but damn those ending emotional moments, ALSO TERRY DID IT
Boy this was an amazing close to the show. Funny, but full of emotion. I got really teary in the last five minutes. A perfect end to a great series.
However, this episode was a reminder why it was great Gina left the show so early.
That Brooklyn Bridge thing had me!
A sad moment watching the last episode of a series I really enjoyed, I'm going to miss the 99 :-(
Jesus, this is one of the best finale since the beginning of the tv!
Thank you for this amazing lovely show
An appropriate send off when the last few seasons have been hit or miss. Nicely done on all the returning characters. It was a good run and very funny at times.
This season obviously felt unlike a normal season and rushed at times, but at least they were able to produce and air it.
and just like their brooklyn accents .. the show never existed
Awwwww, so good! And the perfect way to end the show.
And Gina was indeed a surprise!
For the finale I want Hitchcock back and I want Scully retiring too and both of them living their best lives in Brazil.
Rosa to go with Pimento to that crazy wolf adventure and more crazy adventures and while she’s gone Jake can run the PI business.
Charles quitting too and opening like a deli store? A weird restaurant? Something foodie.
Amy, Holt and Terry thriving in the force and doing positive change.
two of my favorite shows ended in less than a week, Lucifer and Nine-Nine. both had great endings.
So long Nine-Nine! You will be missed guys.

I'm already starting to cry...
Special moments/commentary:
-"Holt will be playing with... Norm Scully!"
"His name is Norm?"
"My name is Norm?"
- I knew it, I knew there would be his goodbye
- Cool meta-opening-theme reference
- I see "special guest" on the board and I'm thinking Bruce Willis.
Confirmed. PLEASE
- The balloon arch
- Oh man, Backstreet Boys scene reference!
- Gina?!
- Pimento
