Is starts out hilarious and Jonathan makes this episode his own but the quality drops after the first half.
Don't skip the opening credits!
I especially appreciate the effort in changing the opening credits sequence. It really sets the tone and helps the whole episode's meta joke about self-insert Gary Stu/Mary Sue fanfics. Speaking of tone, this episode looks really nice, with lush, dark imagery, boasting great photography and above average (for Buffy) fight choreography.

One of the episodes I missed when it first aired and never got around to watching. And to be honest, I probably would’ve been fine without it.
This episode is so shit it made me cringe so much I found myself back in my mother's womb.
Such a boring, pointless episode. Definitely one I'll skip on rewatches.

Superstar is a fun little departure from BUFFY's style but the gag does become somewhat wearisome by the end of the episode. At its best, the episode is delightfully over the top and at its worst, frustratingly abrupt and unsatisfying in its dramatic appeal
