The episode was better than the previous one, and quite suspenseful, though the confrontation between Morgana and the real Igraine turned out to be short and not particularly tense. In spite of this hindrance, Morgana's plans are going well. The attack on Bardon Pass happens just as she instructed her men to do. She goes back to her own body and has to flee Camelot, but she is really a skilfull politician and quickly gathers a lot of supporters to herself.
The damage she had done by telling Leontes about Guinevere and Arthur seems to be a permanent one, as Leontes makes his wife confess and totally turns against her. On Merlin's command he agrees to assist the king in the defence of Barden Pass, but when Guinevere follows him there, Leontes makes Arthur confess to the knight what he had done, and Kay also turns against him, calling him an unworthy king. Though later on he is wounded saving Arthur's life.
Merlin and Igraine spend most of the episode trying to fix the damage Morgana had caused, but are not very successful. They both ride to Morgana's Pendragon Castle and after some tense confrontation with her are captured by her men. Morgana intends to use the king's absence to take over Camelot for herself and plans to organise a trial for Merlin and Igraine to get rid of them. All the time, she styles herself the defender of the common people.
The episode ends with a rather dramatic scene of Arthur and Leontes making their last stand on Bardon Pass, since there is only one episode left, I wonder whether they would have Arthur die here instead of Camlann from the legends? How would it all be brought to a close?
