Richard Castle continues playing junior detective with the NYPD into a second season of ABC’s hit drama Castle. This season Becket is drawn into a deadly game by a homicidal stalker obsessed with her fictional alter ego Nikki Heat, Esposito is confronted by his past when his former partner returns from the dead, and Castle reunites with a long lost love. Additionally, the mystery of Beckett’s mother’s murder is revisited and turns out to be a greater mystery than previously thought. Michael Trucco joins the cast as a recurring character and a number of special guest stars are featured, including Alyssa Milano, Ray Wise, Dina Meyer, Dana Delany, Michael Ironside, and Fred Willard. However, with a full 24-episode season the show starts to get a little formulaic at times. Still, it tries some new things with a 2-part episode, a Halloween special, and some continuing story arcs. A strong follow-up to Season 1, Season 2 of Castle is entertaining and full of exciting murder mysteries.
