Good pilot with good world-building. Portrays the oppressiveness of poverty and the ads-drenched life in a cyberpunk city much better than the game. Plot is a bit cliche though but the episode spreads enough clue for build up in future episodes. Really like the visual cues they use to evoke character's emotion, such as the shot on David's shaking legs when he's anxious.
I think I'm gonna be right at home with this show. The Cyberpunk genre has been a favourite of mine for most of my life and the world of Cyberpunk 2077 is no exception. Such a treat getting to spend even more time in Night City and see what other stories it has to tell.
Very good animation along with the characteristic style of the Trigger studio, it is impossible not to like the show, not from that section at least. The story, on the other hand, is not at all interesting.
The chapter is summarized in exaggerated victimization towards the protagonist because he is poor. At least David has certain glimpses of characterization and the repetition of scenes and attitudes gives him some depth. Good direction on that side, but the victimization remains. It's not that it's a bad element in itself, because not even the protagonist himself reacts realistically to it (the whole development feels a bit absurd), but it will depend a lot on what direction they take from now on.
Love how his home is exactly the same as the one you have in the game. Nice setting, looking forward to the following episodes.
Excellent first episode! Very hyped with the soundtrack
5.5/10 - I don't like the graphics much. Neither the style nor from a technical/CGI perspective. I'm not an anime fan though so I guess it shouldn't come as a surprise. I much prefer real 3D graphics (a cartoon/artistic style is fine then). It's also not as bad as I feared though. One can get pretty used to it.
I'll definitely have to watch it though as I love the game (Cyberpunk 2077) and the Cyberpunk genre in general. It's cool if one already knows quite a few places (like David's appartment), the slang, the sounds (e.g., the calling ringtone), etc. Brings back quite a few nice memories.
The story is better than I though. I expected more crazy violence and less story but luckily it is much better than I feared from the trailer.
David is a bit weird and seemed like a braindance addict at first but I started liking him since it was shown that he tries to take care of his mom and be a good (kinda) kid.
He seems to mean well but it look like things don't really work out for him so far... :o
It really sucks not hot have money / a Trauma Team subscription in Night City.
Unfortunately his mom died due to that.
That corpo kid is really mean (not really surprising for any corpo though)!
I hope he'll get some revenge once he's chromed up.
PS: I'll hope we'll see some nomads (my favorite class and the one I played as).
PPS: I'm glad that the game world isn't that dystopian :o :D
I like the world setting, the art and the outfit of this show.
I've never played Cyberpunk 2077 but this show it's great. I like David's outfit and haircut.
Hearing all my favorite artists finally hit the screen was so dope. Studio Trigger truly knows how to make you cry in the first episode.
Same happened in BNA for me. Hope they don't have the same Trigger tropes here, but I doubt they will in an adaptation.
Fuck that bully. Neoliberal corpo scum.
That was so much better than I expected. I'm really rooting for David now.
