look, I started hating this show (decided to start watching 'cause of jensen ackles, since I'm a fan of supernatural). pilot was ok, but next 4 episodes were UNBEARABLE. it was so boring it took me one year to pick up this show again. from the final half of the first season on, it started being watchable. I was starting liking it. second season was the best, if you ask me. led the show to a really interesting path. just saw the finale and I can say I finished this show loving it. second season started in me a sympathy for the characters, even for max, whom I found so annoying and dislikeable in the first episodes. second season also features jensen ackles. second season also bring us JOSHUA, which is THE BEST character in this show. gotta LOVE joshua! he's just adorable. ♥ what can I say? will I miss it? maybe... probably... sometime. will I remember it fondly? for sure.
I'm just glad I finished it and, must say, I'm sad to see it go. goodbye, dark angel.
Season one has held up very well. Good characters and plot threads without getting offtrack. Also agree a lot of the topics are spot on for some of the things going on today. Good mix of the over arching story line and the day-to-day procedural stories.
Season 2 was a hot mess. Didn't really seem to have any direction and the episodes were all over the place. Ended strong but was too little, too late.
My super all time fave show! Watched entirely back in 2003, I think this was the first show I got really hooked on.
Another high rated show that I never got into. Dropped out after ep13.
There are several things I didn´t like. First off the whole look and feel of the show in general. This is a production from 2000 that is supposed to play in the year 2019, the near future you might say, yet everything screams late 80s early 90s to me. That generic soundtrack is adding up to that fact massively. Next, Jessica Alba is not selling the character for me. And I´m not talking about her acting. She was young, unknown at the time and you don´t expect Emmy quality. I´m OK with her performance, No, I´m having difficulty with a 5 ft 5, 120 lbs super soldier. That´s just not right. It´s not convincing. And last but not least the whole concept of the secret-government-military-organisation-genetically-enhanced-children-turned-super-soldier-programm-with-escapees-beeing-hunted-down feels a bit overused. Althought on that point the blame is with me because chronological Dark Angel came before alot of the other shows and I just watched it now.
Anyway, at no point during the 13 episodes I watched I had the urge to continue. And it took me three weeks to get that far, normally I do 5 eps a day. None of the characters got me interested, the plot was predictable. I pretty much felt bored throughout the part I watched. So I dropped it.
Deserving of more seasons than it got.
Will always be my favourite show next to Buffy, sucks that it didn't run longer, i think it was due to low fan base at the time and low budget, but i bet if Jessica Alba was offered this role in like 2009 or nowish the show would have done so much, i didn't really know who Jessica was back in 2000, i only started watching Dark Angel right after her Honey movie was released, ever since then i watch this show at least 1 or twice a year start to finsh.
This show is a heart break to talk about, ended WAY too soon. It had so much potential and was absolutely amazing while it was on (especially the first season). I've read the books but it would have been the best to actually see it end rather then read.
Planning on doing a re-watch of this with my wife who's a first time viewer. Really enjoyed watching the pilot again. Some of the political messages are striking today. In the pilot the CEO that raises drug prices to sell on the black market in Canada - today in the real world that happens but the product is sold legally and there has been no pulse like event. Amazing.
The pilot laid out just how cerebral Max was too, not just a physical super soldier but a master tactician.
3rd time re-watch now, one of my favourite shows of all time.
didn't get enough seasons. if it had gotten another season, it might be a different story...
One of those shows that ended too early, left with so many answers. I just wished they put at least one extra season to it.
2013 still waiting for season 3
I first watched this show back in 2002. Watching the pilot again in 2022, I can't believe how well it has aged. The only giveaway was the low resolution (I'm watching this in 360p DVD quality) in a 4K/2160p format world.
This show can compete with any Canadian style Sci-fi show today and hold its ground. It can easily beat some of the latest big budget Sci-fi shows we have in 2022.
I remember the characters and the overarching story. But can't recall any stories in detail. I'm really looking forward to binging the 2 Seasons this weekend.
Don't remember what this show was even about anymore (pretty sure it was awesome). All I remember was crushing hard on Jessica Alba after like the first episode.
What a damn shame to spoil herself, Jessica alba’s Botoxed lips spoil her whole beautiful face. Otherwise a great deal of fun.
