A surprisingly solid episode from a ho-hum show. It even has the somewhat uncommon "Genius utterly fails to genius his way out of a situation" trope when Cameron doesn't successfully solve the final bit of the case. The plot line is a reductive bitter employee storyline but even though you can guess who the villain is that doesn't mean it shouldn't be done well. This version is Okay. It's not great or anything the real draw for this episode is that it's an episode that takes a very lovely step forward not too big, not too small along the season arc. And unlike many TV shows that take a step and end in a frustrating cliffhanger. i don't really hate the cliff hanger here. Who doesn't love Annie from Being Human so her romantic triangle grows and Cameron rather than being an annoying white guy who gets everything right this episode just flubs. Vinnie Jones gets to be something other than a punchline (Hey old man learn technology) when he shows he is insightful. This is an episode which is compelling not because of the plot but because of the characters. That said the show as a whole is a police procedural like any other police procedural and I can see people who don't care for police procedurals (like me) only being interested in the plot in other words "I don't care about the white guy savant and the lady cop who puts up with him, if I wanted to watch that I'd watch Castle" so if the characters haven't pulled you in at all there's nothing to enjoy here.
