I was huge fan of the Tenchi Muyo series after my best friend introduced it to me back in 1995~'96. I used to rent the series on VHS tapes from the local video store. Helming from the same label, Pioneer Animation, I discovered El Hazard. I've always wanted to try El Hazard out just from seeing its artwork in Animerica magazines; having the same appealing art style as the Tenchi Muyo series. Now about 20 years later, I've finally made the decision to visit it. This first episode has your typical high school setting, getting to know the main characters. We follow Makoto, who is pretty much our "Tenchi" in this show. It's a slow start, but towards the end of the episode, something interesting happens, and that's where the adventure begins!
