Oh my god! This was insane, and I love it! The premise of a guy you only see from the left is amusingly meta, given how certain background characters may stick with certain easy poses when it comes to animation. It’s the kind of gag that can only work in this medium, and the elaborate ways the show comes up with to demonstrate him only facing left are silly and fun. But the reveal, that he’s actually a bunch of little jelly creatures in a half-man suit, who take disintegration pills when they’re discovered, is so deranged and out there that I can’t help but get a kick out of the audacious absurdity. Dipper and Mabel being shaken and astounded by it is the cherry on top.
