As it's usual with this type of series, they are pretending even for the viewer. Yes, don't look for sense here, The Great Pretender is what it needs to be and not more. And that's fine.

The trick in the first half is fine, but the way Edamura noticed that everyone was up to no good just by spotting the same watch is stretching it. Makes little sense. Let's see how anime-ish (if you catch my drift) this one is.
I liked the episode. The drawings surprised me a lot. Cant wait till episode 2
