Halo: Season 1

1x03 Emergence

I am very interested in the character of Makee and the way she is portrayed as John's counterpart, both being strangers in their surroundings.

I don’t know anything about the halo universe and I’m enjoying this more than I expected I would.

I’m gonna ignore the nerds and nay sayers. This is good hard sci-fi fantasy and the story is really compelling.

They could have at least used Metahuman creator for a better looking Cortana!

The show is developing steadily and as a person who hasn't played Halo I have no arguments regarding the plot or characters.

56 | The Lizard people's character was very bland, even though they are one of the main antagonist in this show. But they still have an interesting element which is their connection with Makee. Then when Makee stole the spacecraft was the stupidest moment in this episode. Not because of her but the man in command of that spacecraft was too dumb to know it was a trap. In another hand, Cortana had potential to developed as a great character but this show failed to did that in this episode. The only clear character's goal in this episode was only Master Chief which is to understand his memories.

I hope that at some point John will realize what Halsey is really up to and will deal with her accordingly.

I don’t understand why they’ve changed how Cortana works - they completely removed her being stored in a box and getting yanked in and out of John’s head.

I'm finding this show very entertaining so far. Hopefully they don't screw it up. Loving the Chief and Cortana interactions.

Opinion of a Halo Newbie

Just when you think things are going to get interesting - another episode of exposition. The only action to be found here comes from Makee, and although it's nothing that hasn't been seen in sci-fi previously, it is good entertainment.

Where John is concerned though, I am getting a bit bored of watching the super soldier play detective. And what is the deal with Halsey's clone? Cortana is a glorified AI, fully interfaced with cyberware already present in the Master Chief - so what exactly was the need for the clone? That bit went over my head, and seemed unnecessary.

It's clear there is more to John than a lab-grown action man, which is great, but his back story and prophecy shouldn't come at the absence of action - this is, after all, based on a shooter, right?

Persevering for now, but this is the first episode I was disappointed with. We need more action!

Cortana has a good look to her, for a real life tv show. Because of that, i will continue onward

I'm loving the Human Side of Master Chief

@Sam Abdel Hamid - Perhaps her appearance is meant to reflect her development in essentially the Beta phase of her digital development. If Cortana can render herself into whatever digital appearance she desires, then her current choice may reflect more HALSEY's coding than her desire, or sartorial / anatomical choices. Just a thought.

I have never played the game either, but am so far enjoying the episodes unencumbered by any preconceived prejudices.

@Miguel Lopez - I get a yin and yang vibe from the two of them, good and evil, as a result of one being raised by the analytical, sterile Halsey, who finds humans messy and unpredictable, and the other raised by the covenant, who hate all things human, except her, as she is the chosen one just like John-117 opposite sides of the same coin.
