Such a great act by Ewan McGregor. He deservs an Emmy!
Such a great story and great portrayal of Halston…. Evan Mcgregor really outdid himself. I found this series the best of everything….
Not even Ewan could save this Ryan Murphy POS production. A lot of the actors did well and looked liked their IRL counterpart.
An outstanding performance by Ewan McGregor.
And an insightful journey into a maybe somewhat insane genius artist’s self destructive mind. For someone portrayed as quite the ass throughout most of the show, it still had me in tears in the last episode.
Riveting!
Well worth a watch for Ewan McGregor's performance.
8/10 Rating for this five part miniseries starring Ewan McGregor as the real life American fashion designer Roy Halston Frowick, who rose to popularity in the 60s as a milliner, moving into couture women's wear in 1968. McGregor is wonderful as the flamboyant and eccentric Halston. His performance is something totally new and fresh for him. He brings grace, tragedy, and comedy to the role.
Halston's journey pulled me in more every episode with some thoughtful character exploration. His story is also the tale of the 70s and 80s. He was besties with Liza Minelli (who is also played perfectly) and part of the VIP crowd that helped make Studio 54 a success.
I highly recommend to anyone who likes character driven work or stories of fashion and high society.
[Netflix] A more apparent than really in-depth biopic around creation versus mass production. There is an interest in highlighting some aspects of this coexistence, but the series does not benefit from the Ryan Murphy brand, just as Halston's creativity was reduced by the level of industrial production of his designs. It's interesting the transformation of Ewan McGregor without needing a physical transformation.
Watched the first episode and it was so-so, not sure if I'll bother to watch the rest of the series. 4.5/10
