I really liked this; particularly the technology. My children grew up with the Gameboy, the Sega Mega-Drive and later the Playstation. This was paralleled by the rise of the personal computer from a niche, kit based machine to a fully fledged consumer product. But this is not among the stories told here.
Instead we are treated to a nostalgic fest, from Space Invaders to Pong to Pac-Man , Super Mario to Sonic the Hedgehog, arcade machines and single games to cartridges, 8 -bit to 16-bit. Nor are failures glossed over; E.T for the Atari 2600 being a prime example. The inspiration and the artistry displayed by some of the Japanese contributors is occasionally brilliant and off-times so simple!
Personally, the only game I could even play vaguely well was Sonic Spinball for the Sega!
