Commenting on the other episodes, I've made references to racism, xenophobia and homophobia, but this episode also made me think of animal rights. The liberation of the caged prisoners and spray painting of the walls was a clear reference to the Animal Liberation Front in my mind. Like animals, the zombies were different from the living, so they were seen as inferior and treated as such. Then the conversation at the dinner table also made me think of how people talk about veganism, especially in front of vegans. They bring up how much they enjoy eating bacon, go into detail about it, then also portray vegans as the issue and extremists while in reality it's the non-vegans that needlessly harm and kill beings simply based on their species. And when the vegans may reasonably lash out, like Kieren did, it's also used against them to say that they're crazy and mean.
