The story is simple and was probably easy for kids to follow. Ships are being blown up in the Sargasso Sea. Once on the scene, Race Bannon and Jonny explore an old ship and run into the Lizard Men who are conducting laser beam experiments. There's lots of high-tech boats, a submarine, some sleek aircraft and plenty of action. The indication that this is not a cartoon made today is evident by the gunplay! The bad guys actually shoot rifles at Jonny and Race. A kid being shot at? Can you imagine that happening in cartoons made today?!?
The backgrounds and still shots are pretty amazing and seeing the styles of the different animators is interesting. The theme and music is fantastic, spy-flavored stuff.
