Lots to think about with this show. The trials that Chris went through are not something that everyone will do, but I liked how at the end of most of the episodes, there were the takeaways that Chris was going to try and incorporate into his own life more regularly. Below is a summary of those:
Habits from Limitless
- mindfulness, 5 minutes
- Positive self talk
- Sauna for 15-20m and 1-12m cold plunge after workouts
- 16h fast / 8h eat
Ep 1 - Stress-Proof:
"To keep his stress levels under control, Chris is going to:
1. practice mindful meditation three times a week
2. remember box-breathing if he feels tense
3. and when under pressure try positive self talk"
Ep 2 - Shock:
"To build shock into his routine, Chris is planning:
1. early morning ice baths three times a week
2. regular 20 minute saunas at around 175 degrees Fahrenheit.
3. cold water for the last 30 seconds of every shower"
Ep 3 - Fasting:
"To build fasting into his routine, Chris is planning to:
1. avoid eating before midday at least three times a week
2. Go 24 hours without food once a month
3. Fast for four days once a year... maybe"
Ep 4 - Strength:
"To get the most out of his muscles Chris is planning:
1. endurance training for two hours a week
2. more climbing, to work a wide range of muscles
3. daily exercise - away from the gym [this was about using multiple muscle groups in realistic exercises like cutting wood. This is the goal of some gyms like CrossFit if I'm not mistaken]"
Ep 5 - Memory:
No summary during the credits.
-Eat and sleep well
-Complete novel experiences as much as possible. New experiences/traveling helps cognitive function, creating new neural connections even in late adulthood.
-Get into nature - phone notifications, email, sounds of the city all provide cognitive load. Our brains are much better designed to function in nature.
-A scientist in the episode informed us that "just a 20 minute stroll in the park without checking your phone is proven to significantly lower the stress hormone, cortisol"
-Veggies and fish diet to fight the aging process. Lower stress levels to improve memory... expose the body to extreme temperature has been shown to significantly decrease the chance of Alzheimer's.
-"Listen with your own ears and see with your own eyes."
-Share your stories with the people you love.
Ep 6 - Acceptance
No summary during the credits.
-Focus on accepting that life could end at any minute, as hard as that is in the monotony of life.
-Think of what you'd want around you when you die, or where you'd want to be when you die to guide you in how you want to live (family? certain life status?)
-Note that data shows us that most of us are less afraid of our own frailty and mortality than we are of the mortality of our loved ones.
-"Life doesn't come at some point in the future when you finally meet that person or lose that weight or stop working so much or get that job or whatever it is... it's happening right now. You're in it... you're living it!"
-"This experience happened at the right time of my life, when I'm trying to figure out what matters. It all matters, all of it. Every moment. Every smile, every tear, every kiss... all of it."
Fantastic Show, I think a learned a lot about acceptance and how to live my life better fully
A few days before my birthday I was looking for anything that will add inspiration to me before I grow older. When I saw this show's cover I felt a strong connection.
After have watched it completely, it did add inspiration. Thank you for making this show. And also thank you because it was a perfect birthday gift.
A few quotations from the show which an eye-opener for me:
"Listen with your own ears, see with your own eyes."
"Grief is beautiful."
"You will die, too."
I throughly enjoyed this series. I put it on only because I had just watched Shark Beach with Chris Hemsworth and I was looking for something next to watch. Limitless actually took me by surprise as I expected him to just do crazy stunts. But as the episodes progressed I was more drawn into the deeper routed life lessons. While I was watching I was reflecting on my own experiences and evaluating how I should change. The side stories were also quite enjoyable. They felt quite raw and not staged which allowed me to open my mind and really empathize. Chris Hemsworth was great in this. It gave us a different insight to his life and I think he was a great individual for this as his calming yet comedic nature is needed to be able to experience this therapeutic self discovery. Only reason it isn't getting a 10 from me is because I wouldn't necessarily rewatch it for my enjoyment. But I would rewatch it for the therapeutic and self discovery aspect and with that I would skip through some of the parts most likely.
No wonder that after this, Chris had decided to put a hold on acting and focus on his family instead.
I commend him for really going Limitless. He had the means and funds to do this show, these experiments, and I think it turned out nicely. Nothing here was meaningless - I mean, would I participate in most of these "activities"? Hell no, but I'm glad I got to watch Chris do them. He still seems such a down-to-Earth person, even after all that fame and success. And the last episode is quite powerful. You go, Chris!

I am surprised more are not watching this and the score is so low. I thought it was good to have a look into Chris life. Personally, I feel all the things he discusses is what he is really concerned with. Interesting facts and information presented in here. Even if you don’t subscribe to the lifestyle I think it was a bold choice for him to make and produce. He is a real person, trying to understand what we all think about in our lives as we grow older and have families. I would recommend to watch and judge for yourself.
