Hidden behind more (rather boring) violence we witness two interesting moments:

  • The widow speaks truth. Their dream is over: They never were honorable business men (nor family men). They are all criminals calming their consciousness with that lie. Denying what they do (including denying they're responsible for the killed cardinal) won't change their miserable trajectory. It's the women who are intelligent in this seasons: the guys around her are either high, immature boys or quite ordinary hitmen (that kind of honesty will probably make Enedina a menacing force in Tijuana).
  • The general had figured it all out. The plan for winning. It's about winning the hearts and minds (to paraphrase an American slogan). The DEA never figured out what that means.

These two moments make that episode memorable. Plus, I like the absence of Amado: he said his organization is a clandestine one and he will calmly watch other cartels fight and apparently he does just that. Most powerful episode of this season yet.

So a representative of an org peddling multi trillion dollar drugs gets killed & the country is in uproar. WTF kind of backwards thinking is that? I guess protect the lesser of 2 evils.
