That was some amazing acting with Connell at the counseling

This episode hit so hard.
First Connell’s session. I too am the weird one who barely ever clicks with everyone… and loses the few they clicked with. Just a lost soul, like Connell. At least his Marianne is still of this world… I hope they do something about it. Otherwise it would be barely bearable. Watching, in the hopes that a fictional me will have a better ending.

And then his conversation with Marianne, and her getting so furious about people commenting their mourning on Rob’s wall and how people talked about him as if he were a different person. That happened to me too, twice. It also made me angry. What are you talking about, honouring their memory? You’re not even talking about who they were!

The counseling scene is a highlight.

best episode so far. connell in the book was already relatable but this took it to a great level. paul mescal put on one of (if not the most) the most emotional performances that i have ever seen in media ever, let alone television in that counselling scene.

loved the skype bits too.

Paul's portrayal at the therapy session is probably the best one of depression and sadness I've ever seen in a film and series. It felt so real towards how I have felt and the emotions weren't "pretty" or "over the top" as you would see people act out crying usually. I really appreciate that. That almost pain in your jaw, like it's locked and you're in so much emotional pain that the words just don't feel able to come out. It just seemed right. He did phenomenally.
