In a show just chock full of devastating observational details and grace notes, I think the one that hit me the hardest was the way Connell argues when faced with the utterly justified ire of Marianne and his mother. He has no idea how to react, nor how to process their reactions in the moment, and so he retreats to this eminently sensible tone. Even when what he's actually saying is complete nonsense, he still clings to that mask of maturity, of being the reasonable one. It's just perfectly written, and incredibly played by Paul Mescal.
Also, Lorraine is the f**king best.

Wow, it's been a very long time since I actually goe teary-eyed while watching a movie/TV Show, but Connell's speech at the end... Great acting from Paul Mescal!
I'll be 40 years old and still pissed off that Connell didn't take Marianne to Debs. It's literally the worst thing any character has ever done. And so much praise to Daisy Edgar Jones and Paul Mescal for playing out that saga brilliantly. Marianne's hurt feels so deep and real and Connell's break down at the end. Its just perfect.
And a special shout out to Lorraine Waldron the definition of a fucking real one. Another tiny detail I loved was how human Rachel felt in the end. Like sure she's a cunt but she's also just a teenage girl.
The thing is you may think Connell is prince charming but in fact he is a douchebag. If you love someone would you really fake no talking to that person, see your friends say and behave like that towards her and not do anything? All of this just because of what your high school "friends" would think of it?
The way his mother reacted you'd think he hit Marianne. Geez...
Other than that, good stuff.
