Ok, hands down best episode of the season.
It was really sweet the whole silent idea.
It also makes you think about "people [..] talks way too fucking much", and how fewer mental traffic we'd have by weighing with more care when to speak. Makes you also appreciate all the shades of reality one is able to experience by hearing, but that's a topic for another time..
Great silent comedy, also:
- that Scrabble scene!
- The typo in the hiding scene, "Are you having a stroke?"
Very well-done format shift that only adds to the suspense and intrigue, and the way it breaks out of it at the end with Steve Martin's shout and cackle is perfect.
It seems others might have really liked this silent episode but we felt it a bit gimmicky and over-done. The first part of the episode it felt like a novel way to showcase his point of view, but by the end it felt cliche and forced. We actually thought this was the worst episode so far.
That entire episode was refreshing - having to actually focus on things and not rely on a spoken word. Really enjoyed it.
Almost close to perfect, I wish they had gone all the way and had absolutely no music, no noises, no sound at all. I loved the comedy without dialogues and I adore the theme song, but it's hard not to instanly remember how outstanding Sam Esmail's fully comitted silent episode of Mr. Robot or the underwater BoJack episode were. This is "only nice", and it fits the show the way they did it, but they easily could have gone higher.
Interesting concept, gotta give them credit for trying something different and for forcing us all to keep our eyes on screen, instead of our mobile phones (no one watches TV like they used to, amirite?). But, really, no human being pukes like that!
A very brave and creative episode. They're nailing this.

What a great choice of direction to have a silent (for the most part) episode! Weirdly enough before I hit play I lamented that I had no more episodes of 'Love, Death and Robots' to watch and was again disappointed by the last episode I watched which was from the perspective of a deaf character. For other reasons I really didn't enjoy the episode so it's weirdly coincidental that this should have a similar theme!
Only bugbear is why on earth would his phone password be Theo? That makes zero sense in practice and as to why Mabel and Oliver would know to guess it? Reminds me of some escape room puzzles that have no logical connection.
Wow why introduce secret hiding places into the show if anyone can basically walk up to it and be like “this must be the secret hiding place” with zero effort. Very lazy.

Smart direction to have the majority of the episode be silent. Really puts you in Theo's shoes.
Best part of the episode is the last scene, we get dialogue back.

Show revealed the killer too soon and lost the mystery.
Incredibly well done having the entire episode from Theo's perspective. Not much media out there takes this approach to convey the challenges that come with deafness. Definitely the best episode of the season.
liked the concept of the episode but they didn't really go through with it fully (still had music etc) unfortunately this was no Hush from Buffy.. story hmmm not bad
That was incredible. That's got to be one of the gutsiest tries a TV show has ever made.
This episode was really genius in its portrayal of a character integral to the storyline.
WHY would his phone password be Theo?! That makes zero sense and is quite a stretch. And the argument on the rooftop didn’t really make much sense either. It all just seemed thrown together quick to provide a half-ass reason for the accident.
And I know I’m being ridiculously nitpicky, but it’s difficult for me to get invested in the podcast angle. How do they have time to record and edit a full-on podcast when they’re busy swept up with their investigation?
I dunno. It’s not a terrible show by any means, and I do enjoy the cast, but I’m not as enamored by it as many of the other commenters. As least not yet.
What an interesting episode. Why was this the one episode I decided to watch in the background? I couldn't keep away from looking and they did a great job at keeping it soundless.
What a stunningly bold and inventive way to reveal our villains, and a major piece of the backstory. Gripping from start to finish.
I'm not a fan of the lack of speaking in this episode. A very annoying change in my opinion. It just didn't work for me at all.
